Is there anything better than a coffee and pastry on a Sunday morning?

Updated: Dec 7, 2023

Whenever I can I look to romanticise the small moments in life. Wether it is a solo date with a good book, to warm up after a winter dip, a way to refuel after a long run or a catch up with a friend a coffee date is the perfect way to do this.

Exeter boast some amazing coffee shops and I have personally done some rather gruelling research so you don't have to.

Here are just a few of my favourites...

Found at the end of Cowick St in St Tomas this has become an extremely popular spot to pick up your morning pastries. My personal favourites are their almond croissant and their cruffin, but you will not be stuck for choice if those don't tickle your fancy. The only thing to say is get there early!

You can find this cozy coffee shop nestled away at the bottom of Fore St. This is one of my favourite spots for a coffee, to sit on a miserable day, dive in to a good book and watch the world move by. Last week I also tried their carrot cake with a brown butter cream cheese frosting (I think). It is currently still living rent free in my head.

My local... This is my weekend post run pick me up and it never disappoints. As the weather gets colder I crave the hug in a mug that you can only get from a cappuccino (flat white loyals don't come for me). Not only is the coffee great but the staff are just the most lovely humans. This cafe is dog and family friendly and high on my list for catch up with friends and co-working.

No other sandwich will ever be the same after you have tried one of Between Breads. Filled to the brim and honestly each mouthful is a taste sensation. This is the ultimate lunch time spot, eating in or taking out you will not be disappointed. So far my favourite's have been their classic chicken ceasar sandwich and their prawn sandwich.
